 How do I complete a money order?

IMMEDIATELY UPON PURCHASE OF A FIDELITY EXPRESS MONEY ORDER, please complete the following:
1. PAY TO THE ORDER OF: Name of the person or business to whom the money order will be made payable.
2. PURCHASER, FOR ISSUER: Signature of the purchaser of the money order.
3. ADDRESS: Address of the purchaser of the money order. NOTICE: Be sure to keep your receipt with serial numbers since this is needed for tracking purposes. NOTICE: If the money order is not cashed within two years of the issue date, a non-refundable service charge will be assessed (where permitted by law). Where can I cash a money order?

Money orders can be cashed at check-cashiers or retailers, subject to the policies of the cashing location. Money orders can also be deposited into bank accounts. However Fidelity Express Agents are under no obligation to cash a Fidelity Express Money Order. Fidelity Express Agents are authorized sellers of Fidelity Express Money Orders, but they are independent businesses who establish their own policies regarding the types of payment instruments they will cash. How can businesses verify a money order is okay to cash?

They can call 1-800-621-8030 ext. 7020 and speak to a customer service specialist and if there are no stop or hold orders on the money order and it is good to cash they will receive a verification number. This service is available Monday thru Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 central time.  After a business obtains a sign on and password to our website, they can log on anytime 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and receive a unique verification number without speaking to a Customer Service representative. How can I find out who cashed my money order?

If a money order has been cashed, a photocopy of the front and back of the cashed money order can be obtained by completing our Photocopy/Refund Request Form. For copies less than 1 year old please fill out a separate and enclose a $10.00 processing fee* for each request. For copies over 1 year old please enclose a $20.00 processing fee* for each request. Do money orders expire?

Fidelity Express Money Order’s do not expire, however if it is not used (presented for payment) within 2 years of the purchase date there will be a non-refundable service fee* deducted from the amount of payment shown on the payment instrument. The service charge* is $2.00 per month from the date of purchase or such lesser amount as may be permitted by applicable law. Back to top


If I make a mistake, can I change the name on the "Pay to the Order of" line?

No! Alterations can not be made to a completed money order. However, if you hold the original money order and have your proof of purchase (your receipt), you may write the phrase “Not Used For Purpose Intended” on the back of the money order and sign the back of the money order in the presence of a check cashing agent or bank to cash.You may also send the original money order, receipt and Photocopy/Refund Request Form to Fidelity Express for a refund.  A $5.00 processing fee* will be deducted. My money order is lost. Can I get a refund?

Yes. You will need to fill out a Photocopy/Refund Request Form, which can also be obtained from the store where the money order was purchased. Send the form with your purchasers receipt to Fidelity Express. Please make copies for your records. If the money order has not cashed by the time we receive your complete paperwork we will place a stop pay on the money order and issue you a refund check usually within 10-14 days. There is a non-refundable processing fee* of $20.00 if you do not send in the fee it will be deducted from the refund. Back to top


How can I obtain a photocopy of a money order?

For copies less than 1 year old please fill out a separate Photocopy/Refund Request Form Form and enclose a $10.00 processing fee* for each request.  For copies over 1 year old please enclose a $20.00 processing fee* for each request. If the money order is 6 months or older please allow 2 weeks for processing. Back to top

I am the payee of a Fidelity Express Money Order and the original money order was lost or stolen. Can I get a refund?

Yes, we will attempt a refund if the money order has not been cashed. You will need to fill out a Consumer Affidavit Form and mail it to us. A $20.00 processing fee* will be deducted from your refund. Back to top


My money order was altered or forged. Can I get a refund?

You can fill out a Forgery Affidavit Form and mail it with a $40.00 processing fee*. Once we receive your request we will forward it to our bank. The time frame to expect notification is 6 months to 1 year. Please note that this is only an attempt to recover funds, there is no guarantee that you will receive a refund. Back to top

Do I receive proof of payment?

Yes, you will receive a validated payment receipt as proof that you made your payment. Back to top


What do I need to pay my bill in person?

Please bring your bill payment stub when paying your bills in person. The information required to pay a bill is included on your bill stub which will be imaged when you make your payment and returned to you with your proof of payment receipt. Back to top


What form of payment may I use to pay my bills?

It depends on the agreement we have with the biller. In most cases, if you are paying a bill to one of our authorized billers, you may pay in cash, check or money order. However, if you are paying a bill to one of the non-contracted billers we offer, you must pay with cash. Back to top
